This is a letter of warning to my Massachusetts brothers and sisters. Get informed and join the fight.
I've been informed that many cities in the state are quietly passing motorcycle ordinances in secret backroom meetings. Most are having to do with noise ordinances as well as the EPA stamp requirement for your pipes. There is also word coming out of the state that some towns are setting up motorcycle only "safety" road blocks and writing tickets for non DOT "approved" helmets and for any motorcycle that does not have stock exhaust.
Check out what the MMA is fighting against in your area. There is also a new organization called the Justice Riders Committee of Massachusetts that has filed suit against the City of Boston. Both are fighting hard for your rights. Show your support to these organizations before Massachusetts becomes a bike free zone.

Things like this is why most motorcycle rides ride out of the communist state of Mass. Heh if the state doesn't want me to spend money here I will go to CT, RI, NH, VT or ME.
If this passes (and I pray it does not), they should crack down on cars with loud aftermarket exhausts, or trucks engine breaking, or people with obnoxiously loud car stereos, or loud boats, or those annoying leaf blowers, or high decibel blenders, or painfully irritating loud televisions or tires that squeal when loosing traction with an asphalt or concrete road, or ...
Hell, crack down on kids who put cards on the frames of their bicycles so that they rattle on the spokes or... you know what? Outlaw hand clapping unless there is an EPA tattoo on the back of the left hand.
Irritating.
Highly annoying! This is crap! That's just like the "secret law" passed in Minnesota for Horizontal, Vs. Vertical license plate display.
Knock on wood. When I had my new Lic. plate bracket fabricated, I broke the new law and went vertical. It just looks better to me. I've ridden by a hundred cops since. None have given me any shit about it.
What gets me upset is not so much that the pols of Mass are trying this crap - they're no more or less ignorant/corrupt/dishonest than the next guy. What really pisses me off is that so few motorcyclists will actually take a stand and phone/write/holler their anger over these laws.
So many of them take the view, "It doesn't affect me because I only run stock pipes.". Or in the case we're fighting here in Ontario, "It doesn't affect me because my kid doesn't ride with me.".
To them I say, read Deitrich Bonhoeffer. He nailed it when he said, about the Nazis, “First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists, but I was neither, so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew so I did not speak out. And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me.”
Hell hath no fury like a biker scorn!!
"Ve vould like to zee your paperz". Ok, there are way too many people doing this kind of crap. I'm just getting really damned sick and tired of people passing shit underhandedly.
Annoying to say the least. You know what. There are so many fucking laws and crap around now that every person, no matter how hard they try, is a f'in outlaw...whether they know it or not. Bullshit.
On the other hand...we don't need to be going around pissing people off just to piss people off. Alot of these laws are desperate attempts to get grade A-holes to think about others just a bit. I'm aggressive when provoked but I'm not that 24-7 straight up dirty sphincter hole either.
Canajun...that hit the bullseye. Wer'e all guilty of that.
Now you see what we in CA have been dealing with for years.
You’re right Canajun, most haven’t got the balls. But hell, I think it’s fun! In the last week I’ve pissed off a Councilwoman, got another Councilman on my side, had letters to the Editor published and am about to go after the whole damn Parking Enforcement Division for harassing select residential neighborhoods. This is over a “proposed” parking issue. But I’ll be dammed if my voice won’t be heard! Hell, my taxes pay these bastards, they will listen. They might tell me to f-off, but I’ll make my opinion known.
Right on Brother. Bitch bitch bitch and then bitch some more!
So glad we no longer live in the communist republic of Massachusetts. They're sneaky bastards, and always have been.
I never new things like this before. I'm not that aware. Glad to be informed like this.
Time to get back in the world brother.
