I'm Such A Man-Whore

I feel so dirty. Using her for my pleasure and then just dropping her off at some warehouse after I've had my fun. Wouldn't blame her if she never spoke to me again.

Well folks, I've had to call it quits for the year. The weather only looks nastier from here on out. I dropped Dixie off yesterday for her winter slumber. With a tear in my eye and taking pictures of her, my friend Dan must have thought I was crazy. Although, he's probably growing used to my sentimental ways when the snow starts flying.

By the way, this is Dan. He's the guy who keeps her running when the mechanics are above my head. Dan and his wife Terri own Milwaukee Motorcycle Imports. A large part of their business is shipping Harleys back and forth overseas for service men and women. His service work is priced about 25% less than the dealerships but that's not why I go to him. Dan understands the love between a biker and their bike. He treats Dixie with tender love like a lady should be. And his wife Terri has Dixie polished to showroom perfect whenever I pick her up.

Those of you who have followed me for a while know that this is now a period that I refer to as "the dark times". I now spend my days counting down until Spring appears. I will be in mourning for the next few days.

Dean: I know the feeling all to well. I know my days are numbered here in Iowa too. I've been lucky and have got to ride longer then I had thought I could. We've got a fair week here temp wise, if you call low 30s/40s fair, but I know it's just matter of time. I even broke down and put the charger on the car over the weekend since I haven't started it since about late April.

I keep Whiskey in my garage but I have to put the cover over him so as not to have to look and want. He well earned his rest that is coming with around 12,000 miles this year. He is a mess from this crummy weather this time of the year so it's time to give him the dignity of some shine time. The rubber is thin and with 50K hitting the odometer it is time to give back for all he has gave me. Who knows maybe he'll get that Baker Direct Drive 6 Speed he's been wanting during the rest.

Next time out I will give the throttle a healthy twist in Dixie's honor. In the mean time I hope with you that winter is easy and passes quickly.

Sorry for your loss.

Dan and Terri sound like great folks. Honest shops are getting harder to find. Tell them thanks from me for taking care of our military. Folks who care about our service men and women are getting hard to find also.

I will keep you in my prayers. Now go get a cup of hot chocolate and calm yourself down. Who says men in leather don't cry!?:)

We are practically on the same cold friggin latitude. I've not quite put the bike away. I'm still in denial.

Just go pick Dixie up and head out here! Tell your boss you'll be back in 127 days.

Sniff, sniff. I feel really sad about this forced riding sabbatical you are about to embark upon. Shall I send you pics of my Glide in my garage, ready to go out for a day of pleasure whenever I'm ready? Will that help take the pain away, just a little bit? Or maybe you'd rather come down here and kick my ass for being such a smart one. (ass that is)
You see, if I get you down here, that's half the battle. Once your here, I can just say, wouldn't you rather ride than beat me up? See where I'm going here.
All kidding aside, I feel your pain dude. I hate not being able to ride. Hopefully, this time will pass quickly.
